Misinformation spread though the likes of social networking sites such as Facebook have been blamed for the slow uptake in girls opting to have the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccine that prevents Cervical Cancer.
One of the misconceptions being spread is that the vaccine is given to girls who are sexually active. However it is actually given to girls aged 13 to 18 because that is when their bodies have the best response. Others have expressed concern about adverse reactions to the vaccine. Read more
