One of the speakers at the Alumni Lectures at the University was botanist Emeritus Professor Carrick Chambers, formerly Professor of Botany at the University of Melbourne 1967-1986. From 1986, he has been Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. He began his career at Auckland University College (now the University of Auckland). His lecture -
