Elsevier is pleased to announce the launch of CiteAlert. CiteAlert is a new, free, unique and automated service to notify authors when their articles are cited in an Elsevier journal.
CiteAlert was piloted one year ago and after carrying out extensive research and user testing, this new user-friendly service is now in use. CiteAlert automatically notifies authors by e-mail soon after their work is referenced in a newly published article in an Elsevier journal. Authors are eligible to receive CiteAlert notifications if their article has been indexed by Scopus, the largest citation database of research literature.

Alternatively, authors wishing to keep track of citations of their papers can use the citation alert features of the Scopus and Web of Science databases available through the Library:
Scopus
1. Perform a search
2. Click on the "Abstracts + Refs" button below the paper of interest
3. On the Abstracts + References page, click the "Email alert" link below the citations column on the right hand side
4. Enter a name for the alert, and choose how frequently you want the alert run
5. Click on "Submit" to return to the Abstracts + References page
Note: A similar alert may also be created for citations of a particular author.
Web of Science
1. Perform a search
2. Click on the title of a paper of interest to get the Full Record page
3. On the Full Record page, click the "Create Citation Alert" button to go to the Citation Alerts Save Confirmation page
4. Click "Done" to return to the Full Record page.
