Every year, we look at updating the software available on the IC computers. This year, we’d like to hear any ideas or suggestions you have regarding this update: what applications should be made available, any particular updates and changes, and similar.
To refresh your memory,
this is what we’ve currently got installed on the IC machines. Information Commons computers are provided to support academic research and learning, not for business, personal or recreational use such as gaming (so please don’t ask us to make World of Warcraft available).
Also, keep in mind that the Faculty/departmental labs provide the specialist software or development environment that students need, while the Information Commons creates a learning environment by providing general productivity software. This means that we’re not looking to make department-specific software available on the IC computers.

The new image for 2011 will be rolled out at the start of Summer School 2011.
