As if the start of the semester were not exciting enough on its own, some of us have been hit by a scam email first thing in the morning.
The message with the subject line "Update YOUR Auckland EMAIL EMAIL NOW" is a phishing scam, plain and simple, trying to get hold of your email details, including your password. If you receive this email, DELETE it. Do not bother to reply, and most certainly do not give them your UoA password.
For more information about scams, visit http://auckland.ac.nz/security/EmergencyAdvice.htm.
A gentle reminder - IC staff or any other University staff will never ask you for your UoA password or any other password, for that matter. Any message that says otherwise is a scam.
If you suspect your password has been nicked by person or persons unknown, change it immediately:
Oh, and enjoy the start of the semester...
