Anti-bullying literature and resources

 anti-bullying resources in epsom library
The topic of bullying has been in the media a lot recently, especially this week with New Zealand school Boards of Trustees being told by government to ensure their students are safe.  The Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library has many resources which address this issue, both on a policy level as well as for use in the classroom, and could be helpful for teachers, principals and boards as they review their anti-bullying policies and practices.

In 2007 the Education Review Office published Safe Schools: Strategies to Prevent Bullying, which we hold in both print and electronic versions.   We also hold many picture books, junior fiction and young adult titles which address this theme.  For teachers wanting to look at bullying and teasing from different perspectives and for different age groups, you may find this list of books compiled by the Co-operative Children's Book Center (University of Wisconsin)  a useful guide to choosing good titles for your needs.

Please feel free to ask at the Sylvia Ashton-Warner Library Information Desk for further assistance.
