The Factiva database provides access to the latest world business, industry and company news. Global data is sourced from thousands of sources in 23 languages from 159 countries.

Key titles include The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Financial Times, The Australian Financial Review, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The Economist, Fortune and Newsweek. Webnews, blogs, images and multimedia sources are also covered.

Emerald ReadingList Assist

Emerald ReadingList Assist

Emerald ReadingList Assist is a new reading list service offered within the Emerald Management Xtra database. It draws together a diverse range of Emerald's cross-disciplinary journal and book content in over 50 subject-specific reading packages.

The Business, Management and Economics reading package covers areas such as accounting and finance, business ethics, environmental management, enterprise and innovation, international business, built environment, marketing, operations and logistics management and much more.

New Zealand Official Yearbooks available online

Statistics New Zealand

A web version of the New Zealand Official Yearbooks from 1893-2008 is now
available on the Statistics New Zealand website.

Since 1893, New Zealand’s Official Yearbooks have captured the stories of
New Zealand in words and in numbers. The Yearbooks are an incredibly rich
one-stop-shop for data and information from across government. Information
is included on diverse topics from fisheries to friendly societies and
prices to poetry.

Statistics NZ workshop - CURFs microdata

Social and Cultural Statistics Unit at Statistics NZ will run a hands-on workshop on the General Social Survey (GSS) 2010 confidentialised unit record file (CURF) dataset on Monday 19th March, 2012.

This workshop will provide an opportunity  to gain a high level understanding of Statistics New Zealand and one of its products - microdata. Attendees will also be able to manipulate the dataset using appropriate analytical software. CURFs are useful to test hypothesis of research work or as a base dataset for university research.

Information skills for postgrads

The Business Information Skills Online (BISO) modules have been redesigned with postgraduate research, writing and referencing needs in mind.

The modules will teach you how to access, evaluate, and use quality business information, as well as the principles of critical thinking, effective writing, academic honesty and referencing. You can either work through the whole tutorial, or visit individual modules as required. 

BISO is a great way to learn these important research skills.  BISO is available 24/7 - there when you need, at a time that suits you.

Informit Business Collection database

The Library has recently subscribed to Business Collection, a new database from Informit. Covering many business subjects, Business Collection provides full text access to journals and some monographs published by small Australasian academic and professional associations.
