American History in Video and World History in Video are two new Library databases, both published by Alexander Street Press. The rich collections can be accessed through the respective connect pages. Alternatively, searching across the databases is possible by selecting the History in Video interface.

American History in Video provides remote access to the largest collection available online for the study of American History, comprising newsreels, archival footage, public affairs footage, and documentaries. The current release contains 5,739, equalling approximately 1,346 hours which will be extended to about 2,000 hours upon completion.

World History in Video includes critically acclaimed English-language documentaries. The coverage of topics and historical eras is wide ranging, and the collection attempts to be global in scope. Upon completion, the collection will contain 1,000 hours of video, offering access to more than 1,750 documentaries from filmmakers worldwide.
