The library has licensed Update II of Mass Observation Online and herewith provides access to all digital content released to date.
Mass Observation Online is a collection of British social history material, 1937-1972, comprising file reports, published empirical studies and the raw material behind them, photographs, diaries, day surveys, directives, and other documentation. The digital project offers integrated access to new online material, microfilm series, and the Mass Observation Archive which is housed in Special Collections at the University of Sussex Library. All digital holdings can now be accessed through the database connect page.
Material in Update II comprises:
- The remaining war year diaries, 1943-45
- The directives for the same period, 1943-45
- Five additional topic collections: Smoking Habits, Drinking Habits, Posters, Britain Can Make it Exhibition 1946
