Writing History Essays

Welcome back for Semester II.

The Library has some useful books to help you with your essay writing. A great little book is Writing History by William Kelleher Storey.

Writing History: A Guide For Students

Storey, Willam Kelleher, Writing History: A Guide for Students, 3rd edn, New York, 2009.

As well as this one, you will find some other useful books here in the Library:

Mabbett, Ian, Writing History Essays: A Student's Guide, New York, 2007.
Stuchtey, Benedikt, and Eckhardt Fuchs, Writing World History 1800-2000, Oxford, 2003.
Walker, Garthine, Writing Early Modern History, London, 2005.
Williams, Robert, The Historian's Toolbox: A Student's Guide to the Theory and Craft of History, 2nd edn, Armonk, N.Y., 2007.

Histeria!  is the Historical Society annual with a selection of the best essays from the History Department in the last few years. There are copies in the Library and you can get them from the History Dept office for $5. Excellent value!
