The database 17th-18th Century Burney Collection Newspapers has facsimile copies of the 700 volumes of newspapers collected by Charles Burney (1757-1817) and now held at the British Library. Including over 1,200 titles and over a million pages, this is one of the largest collections of early English newspapers, newsbooks, Acts of Parliament, addresses, broadsides, pamphlets, and proclamations.
It includes newspapers from England, Ireland and Scotland, and some European publications (France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands). Colonial titles include newspapers from Bridgetown, Barbados; Kingston, Jamaica; and Madras and Calcutta in India.
This collection complements the 19th Century British Library Newspapers database.
