Shall we stop appealing to the privy council? What the newspapers say... in 1912.

The 19th Century Masterfile gives us access to several indexes originally published in the 19th and early 20th Centuries.

The Canadian Law Times, 1912

These indexes are:

Poole’s Index to Periodical Literature, 1802-1906
Catalogue of Scientific Papers, Series IV, 1884-1900 issued by the Royal Society
Catalogue of Scientific Papers Subject Indexes
Cumulative Index to a Selected List of Periodicals, 1896-1899
Periodical Articles on Religion, 1890-1899 (Richardson)
Index to Legal Periodical Literature, 1786-1922 (Jones and Chipman)
Index to Periodicals, 1890-1902 (Steads’)
Swem’s Virginia Index, 1619-1930 (Virginia Historical Index)
Psychological Index, 1894-1905

You can simultaneously search all of those indexes, or select the results from just one as in this example:

19th Century Masterfile search results for "privy council"

19th Century Masterfile citations with full-text links

The latest enhancement to this database is the addition of links to full text editions in other online resources.  In the two citations illustrated above, there is a link to the article in the Canadian Law Times. That certainly makes it quicker to get the article. The other reference has no link, so you should use the library catalogue Voyager to search for Journal of the Society of Comparative Legislation. Although there isn't a link directly from the index we used, you may find that we have the journal available online and in print.
